7: I want
music and moving graphics on my site, can you do these?
8: Can I purchase
just the graphics for my site? I want to build my own.
9: Can I do
my own updates and changes?
10: Who decides
what the site will look like?
11: I had
someone else design my site and they are not doing webdesign anymore, can
you update it?
1: Should
I use a free space provider like Angelfire or Geocities to host my site?
You can, but nothing is really
free. The problem with the free servers is that they need to support
themselves through advertising - which comes in the form of banner ads
(annoying) or pop-ups - REALLY annoying. Plus, you have no
control over the content of those ads, and do you really want something
advertising 'marital aids' on your babysitting site? top
2: How
can I make use of my free space that my ISP provides?
Review your welcome package you received when you signed up for their service. There should be something there
about setting up your website. Alternately, contact customer service,
and ask them how. top
3: I
want my own domain name (ie www.mykennel.com), how do I get that?
Contact a registrar, such as http://www.parcom.net
or http://www.namesecure.com and
follow the steps. top
4: I
want my own domain, but can't afford monthly hosting fees, now what?
You can make use of the free servers (see answer #1) or use the space that comes with your ISP ( internet service provider) account, then have your domain 'forwarded' to that address.

5: I
want the whole works, domain, hosting and everything, how much??
Domain registration is available from many different registrars, and averages $15/year USD. Hosting (the place that your website will 'live') can be found for as low as $3.95/month, you need to shop around. http://www.parcom.net is one of the best I have found for hosting as far as customer friendly, and inexpensive. My site design fees vary - see Rates for prices
and packages. top
6: Why should I buy my own domain name?
To make it easier to find you on the internet. Site addresses like "http://www.members.shaw.ca/dogcraft/index.html" are hard for people to remember. www.dogcraft.com is far easier!
top
6: Can you do everything for me so all I have to do is tell people the new address?
Yes, I can arrange for all of that to happen. All you have to do is ask! top
7: I want music and moving graphics on my site, can you do these?
I can but prefer not to. Music slows down the load time of a page, and most people find it extremely annoying. Moving or animated graphics - well, I
use one for my logo, but too many is just gimicky and tasteless.
top
8: Can I purchase just the graphics for my site? I want to build my own.
Sure - tell me generally what you want, and I will be happy to make your very own custom graphics. top
9: Can I do my own updates and changes?
Certainly. Once the site is complete and I am paid, it is yours to do with as you wish. top
10:
Who decides what the site will look like? Do I need to decide what
I want to say?
It is your site - you have to be happy with the final result, and you do need to provide me with the text of what you want to say. If you are not good at writing, give me
a draft of what you want, and I can edit it. top
11: I had someone else design my site and they are not doing web design anymore, can you update it?
Of course I can, but you need to provide me with the access information - such as the password, where it is hosted and so forth.
